About Me

Timothy Calvin Boyce is the Chairman and Managing Director of Caribbean Tourism Investment Management Inc. (CTIM Inc.). After completing his studies at Barbados Community College, Cornell University and Revans University, his Career commenced in the Civil service of Barbados where he started his Chartered Accounting studies. However, after joining the Commonwealth Holiday Inns of Canada as a systems and Internal Auditor, the Hotel Industry appealed to him, and he made the switch from accounting studies to management in the Hotel and Tourism Industry.

In 1971, he joined the UK Trust House Forte Hotels Group as an Assistant Financial Comptroller at Sandy Lane Hotel and during his 11 years with Trust House Forte International, he worked and trained in their European Resorts of Sardinia, Amsterdam, Belgium, Malta, Paris and London before returning to Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados as the Financial Comptroller in 1978.

Mr. Boyce loves to work with troubled hotels and in 1982 he accepted the challenge of reconstructing the Crane Beach Hotel from a receivership position. To this end, he joined the Company of Daniel Lee Associates of Toronto, the then owners of the Hotel. He remained at the Crane Beach Hotel for ten years.

After successfully achieving the task of re-positioning the Caribbean’s first resort (established in 1769) he was asked by its Canadian owners to devise a plan for the development of the 25 room, 33-acre site. To this end, he introduced the then emerging Mix-Use model for its development. After completing the model, he embarked on a mission to find either investors or an outright purchaser for the property. After two years of making presentations in Europe and North America he finally met the present owner Paul Doyle at the ITB Tourism trade fair in Berlin and sold his company (Go Vacations) the property with the Mix Use Development model. The development of the Crane continues to be pivoted around this concept.

Mr. Boyce is very experienced in all aspects of Financial Management and the Hotel and Tourism Industry but has a special liking for the restructuring and re-positioning of unprofitable and troubled hotels and the negotiation of hotel management contracts. He is adamant that the application of the Mix Use Model of hotel development and the rigid application of the Uniform System of Accounting for hotels must be the tools of trade for a sustainable Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Industry.

In 1992, he left the Crane Beach Hotel after ten years and formed Caribbean Tourism Investment Management Inc., a wealth creation company that utilizes the tools of Real Estate, Property Investment and Management, Hotel & Tourism Consulting, Valuations, Financial Management and Brokerage services to offer his clients a turnkey operation. He is currently writing and hope to publish the book “Implementable Strategies for Sustainable Tourism in the Caribbean.”

The vast experience that Mr. Boyce has acquired while auditing, managing, marketing, directing, researching and assisting in the planning of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Industry, makes him and the professional team with which he shares a strategic alliance, well placed to offer prospective clients the turnkey operation necessary to maximize and sustain a return on their investment. He has served as a Director on every Hotel and Tourism Board in Barbados and continues to serve on the board of many other business and sporting organisations.
